Government delivers Northampton's new £15.75m Urgent Treatment Centre, opening 7 September

Northampton General Hospital's new £15.75 million Urgent Treatment Centre was completed this week, backed by Government investment in the NHS, and opens to patients on 7 September.

The purpose-built centre replaces the former Springfield Urgent Treatment Centre and sits alongside the Emergency Department, bringing urgent and emergency care together under one roof for the first time.

Lucy Rigby MP and Mike Reader MP toured the facility, meeting NHS staff and contractors who worked on the project.

Patients attending the new centre will be assessed on arrival and directed straight to the right care, whether that's urgent treatment, emergency care or specialist paediatric services.

Lucy said: "This is what real investment in the NHS looks like. Northampton General’s new £15.75 million Emergency Department and Urgent Treatment Centre is finished, on time, and means patients get the right care, faster. This will make such a difference for people across Northampton needing to visit the hospital in an emergency."

Services will move into the new building in phases over the coming weeks. Anyone with an urgent healthcare need that isn't life-threatening should still contact NHS 111 first, rather than going straight to the hospital.
